Abstract
Globalization has proven to be a phenomenon that directly impacts the ways of producing, living and, above all, the relationship between man and the environment due to the new socioeconomic relationships arising from the capitalist system. In addition to this context, Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) have become popular, giving rise to consumption patterns that generate a greater quantity of inputs that are constantly discarded inappropriately by the population, polluting the environment and contributing to the degradation of natural resources. In this context, the environmental issue involves raising people’s awareness of the need for sustainable consumption and the adoption of sustainable practices with regard to the care and preservation of the environment. Thus, this article has the general objective of presenting reflections on education for sustainability as a way of raising socio-environmental awareness among basic education students and, more specifically, the role of school administrators regarding the effective training of students for sustainability. To this end, a study with a bibliographic and qualitative focus was carried out, whose methodology consisted of revisiting the theorists who address the topic.
