Abstract

This study analyzed evidence on the effectiveness of clinical simulation in reducing adverse events in emergency and urgent care services. It is a systematic literature review conducted according to PRISMA 2020 guidelines, with searches in PubMed, Scopus, CINAHL, and LILACS databases, covering publications from 2018 to 2025. Eighteen studies that met the methodological quality criteria of the Joanna Briggs Institute were included. The results indicated an average reduction of 15% to 40% in adverse events after implementing strategies based on clinical simulation, with emphasis on high-fidelity methodologies, in situ simulation, and virtual reality. In addition to improving technical skills, there was a positive impact on interprofessional communication and safety culture. It is concluded that clinical simulation is an effective intervention to improve care quality in critical contexts and should be incorporated into institutional patient safety policies. Further longitudinal and multicenter studies are recommended to consolidate evidence and assess the cost-effectiveness of adopting immersive technologies.
