Abstract
The incorporation of digital technologies into healthcare has promoted profound transformations in the way medical care is provided and health services are managed. Telemedicine, understood as the use of information and communication technologies to offer remote consultations, diagnoses, and monitoring, stands out as an essential tool for expanding access and promoting equity in health. In parallel, health telecenters are configured as public spaces for digital and social inclusion, enabling access to information, education, and digital services. Integrated into health policies, these environments favor community empowerment and the dissemination of knowledge, especially among vulnerable populations. This chapter highlights the case of the Laura Vermont Telecenter in São Paulo as an example of an action aimed at the LGBTQIA+ population, promoting support, employability, internet access, and physical and mental health care. In economic terms, telemedicine and telecenters contribute to the reduction of operational and logistical costs, optimizing resources and strengthening the Brazilian Unified Health System (SUS). Socially, these initiatives consolidate the principle of equity, bringing technology and citizenship closer together. It is concluded that the integration between telemedicine and telecenters is essential for building a more democratic, sustainable, and humane healthcare system, based on public policies of digital inclusion and continuous professional training.
