Abstract
The trajectory of students who study the Periodic Table is marked by many difficulties in learning and apprehending it. And there are several reasons that lead them to feel a true apathy, aversion and lack of motivation when studying it. This work sought to problematize, analyze and understand the factors that have contributed to the failure of students to study the Periodic Table, causing them to perform poorly in activities and assessments. In order to achieve the proposed objectives for the development of this work, a qualitative and quantitative research of a bibliographical, documental and exploratory character was carried out. The target audience researched were students and teachers from the José Furtado Bezerra Teaching Center in the municipality of Miranda do Norte, Maranhão, with the purpose of analyzing the difficulties faced by teachers and students in the teaching-learning process of the Periodic Table in High School.
