Abstract

The various inconveniences caused by injuries, especially chronic wounds, represent one of the limitations of medicine today. Therefore, within the scope of alternatives for repairing tissue damage, several plant species are widely studied as a way to propose new therapies for the treatment of wounds, and among the species studied, Aloe vera is always a highlight. When observing these complications, significant efforts are made in order to seek new treatments and improvements in these therapies. One of the most promising alternatives that has become the focus of study in this area are delivery systems based on nanotechnology for the release of drugs and actives in a local and controlled manner. Given this, the present study aimed to conduct a literature review in order to correlate the possibility of applying Glucomannan derived from Aloe vera, complexed to cyclodextrins, as a delivery system for use in wound healing therapies. The Science Direct and Pubmed databases were used to survey the studies involving the chosen theme. Articles that directly addressed the established theme were included, involving experimental and clinical studies on the applications of A. vera and glucomannan in a nanostructured system for applications in tissue damage repair therapies. From the bibliographic survey carried out in the databases, a total of 30 articles were chosen for full reading, and in the end 25 studies were chosen to compose this research. The number of studies found as a whole from the searches with the chosen descriptors was quite expressive, presenting a significant amount of results. From this study, it can be stated that the continuity of research involving the use of glucomannan complexed to cyclodextrins is favorable, which implies good results.
