MELIPONICULTURE: : SOCIETY AND INCOME GENERATION

Abstract

Brazil is a country rich in species of stingless bees and because of this the study of Meliponiculture has been growing in the country. In view of this importance, the objective was to carry out a bibliographic survey on meliponiculture and its impact on society and income generation. Meliponiculture shows itself as an important income-generating activity for contributing significantly to the income of meliponicultors and as an instrument of environmental education. In addition, pollination carried out by stingless bees ensures sustainable food production and acts directly on the conservation of the planet's biodiversity.
